Oh, I totally agree with you. I'd like nothing better than to have another non-club board that is paddling related for our area. That seems to be a very good idea considering this latest bruhaha.

It seems similar to, let's say, someone is invited to join a dinner circle where members share the cost of the food and wine. They decline to join, but show up anyway, eat and drink and then complain about how all the food was prepared.

It seems the non club members complain and criticize the club they refuse to join far more than its own members do.

It's just whacky.

You can create whatever you wish, so if it is a non club forum you want, create it! Leadership really is a necessary component to some things.

jody, I already agreed with you on this. I see the "point"....and the issue of another mesage board will be investigated. But I have never free-loaded a situation like your example....being invited to come with the understanding of sharing expenses and not....jeezus! The last I checked, this board is open to all....which also comes with other's opinions. If the ACC doesn't want to hear those different opinions, then like I said, maybe they should close this to members only and not invite non-members.

TC, my post, while indeed a reply, was not directed solely at you. No one called you a free loader, calm down. I was just trying to articulate with an analogy that may not be perfectly analogous. Is that a word?

Also, I have absolutely no idea nor do I care who is an actual member or not. But it does become obvious who the non members are when they start whining.

Remind me to never hire your carpentry services.

that example was not very accurate to this situation. As far as I know, there is not an expected sharing of costs to visit this site as a non-member. I thought this site was for all paddlers to share information. If I am wrong then please forgive for ever coming here as a non-member.

the end.

I doubt this message board is free to the ACC.

Don't get all kinds of upset, TC. It certainly isn't worth it.

Hellbender - I was trying to remind everyone of our common ground, common love for rivers, etc. not throw another dart. I hope you took it that way and were responding more to others. If there is a need for a non-ACC site, so be it, I still hope we can still smile and enjoy the rivers together.

I'll start another thread soon with suggestions on how folks can get us to turn down the pro-ACC rhetoric a notch. But don't get your hopes up - you may not like my ideas.

I need to add that I am jody posting under Prophet;s log in----he is innocent and out paddling right now. So if y'all run into him on the river, be nice to him as he is a great guy and would never state the above opinions of mine in such an in yer face kind of way.

My only point, really, was that non club members are guests to this forum and should act accordingly IN MY OPINION ONLY----coming on here utilizing club resources (many more than just this forum) and criticizing the club and it's members is really just rude.
