There is a deceptive hazard on Lee Creek that has gotten me into trouble twice now in exactly the same way. My plan seemed sound: In by noon, out by two, home by 3:30 to babysit so the wife can grab a nap before work. "I'll be home by 4:00 at the absolute latest," were my words. Then I would spend all day Sunday--Mother's Day--with happy, well-rested wife.
I got home at 7:45. It's not the first time.
Folks, it is absolutely NOT POSSIBLE to spend less than four hours on Lee Creek because it is TOO MUCH FUN!!!

Long-time Lee Creek veterans already know about the "It's only a mile-and-a-half" trap but relative newbies like myself, particularly those with spouses who work nights, may not have figured it out yet. Hopefully this post will spare someone else some agony.

"...a light falling sound, as of grains of sand being sprinkled from a window overhead, gradually spreading, intensifying, acquiring a regular rhythm, becoming fluid, sonorous, musical, immeasurable, universal: it was the rain." --Marcel Proust
