There are at least half a dozen more out there :D (the list includes only those known to have been paddled). Thanks for the timeline on the Upper Upper, Shelby. Know if anyone went a few miles higher? Dave and Grant--be glad to join you for some explorin' on your end of the Mulberry.

BTW, anybody know who first ran Indian Creek (Franklin Co.) and Herrod's Creek?

To answer your question about first "known" or "documented" descents on Herrod's and Indian creeks: I can't remember the entire team (it was a long time ago), but myself, Tim Mcfarland, Micah Adams and (I believe) Landon Colwell (among others) composed the group the day we ran Herrod's. I haven't walked Indian, one of the few on the north side of the Mulberry I haven't walked, but Micah has and reported that it was similar to Herrod's, which is mostly II's with trees and a III or two in there somewhere. It was very bushy...look up from the bridge at the take-out and you get the idea.

The only other creek that I've heard of being run on the south side of the Mulberry is White Oak and I believe you know who ran that one:) Remember Watalula?

To those who don't know, when you turn off HWY 23 and drive north along the road on the upper Mulberry, you cross over Mountain Fork, Herrod's then Indian, in that order.

I hope that helps and congrats on Barron's, sounds like a good one!

We've been hiking the West Fork of Little Mill Creek a couple of times and have made a pact with the fine Ozark-American land owner there to let us come paddle as long as we bring him CANDY and let him go with us.

Got to watch him cause he's skeered of bears and carries around a hog leg like he was Dirty Hairy or something. He is a Dirty Hairy Ozark-American and he lives in a house made out of doors he likes to call the "Luv Shak".

Corn Mash, Love Shacks, Hoglegs, it don't get any more Class IV than that unless you was riding around with Bert Reynolds or sumpin...... Deliverance II, The Legend of Stott's Holler....

Yup, we were gonna get a first descent on the east fork of Cedar creek one fine day and as we parked at the put-in an old lady came over to tell us not to block the road. After a long explanation as to what "blocking the road meant" (it was a gate to a pasture) as she walked away she happened to say over her shoulder she had to tell "them other fellas" the same thing. When we inquired she couldn't remember anything about them until she smiled brightly and said "one of them called hiself Stotts".

That's when we knew we had been "Stotted".

Dave you are right I have ran the camp section of John Turner creek, when the Mulberry is about 18 feet there is some nice surfing. You can not count the numbers of hours that kids have played in that creek. Nick

I have no idea who the McCoys are! I just remember playing the song in an old band back in the 80's.

Been there.....etc.... I started to chime in on the L or N issue but....nah, Bass player buddy used to get all worked up about it but I never remember being asked to play that song by the "correct" name.
