Re: Salado Level
Bart Jennings, my son Craig, and I did Salado yesterday at a level of 8.5 stones. Great run. There is a tree down across the channel about a mile from Tahkoda. you can slip through some small willows on the left side but it's a place to be careful.
About 3/4ths of the way down the run there is another larger tree down across the creek, paddle into the small willows on the right and then get out and drag your boat on down to the deep water.
As close as i live to the Salado, this was my first time on it. I was pretty impressed. the huge wave train right next to the slanted bluff on river left was a hoot, and there is a great eddy on river right where you can paddle all the way back up to the top and make an EXTREMELY FAST AND DYNAMIC peel-out (kinda like the WW segment in Waterwalker) to run the waves again.
As fun as it was, I'm ready to go paddle something with fewer branches hanging down in the way.
