News from Canoe School

Post by prophet » Sat May 02, 2009 10:50 am

With the Mulberry River blown out, the word is that everyone went up to Shores Lake. At some point, Brad will have to close the campground....I think Susan said 14 feet?

I really have not much of an idea what I am talking about.

 I do have some amazing beans and cornbread on the stove.

Well, Thanks for the update! Diane is teaching and I haven't heard from her and wondered what was going on. She thinks I'm boating, but we elected to let things settle down and go tomorrow since we didn't have a plan or a shuttle for today!

I just spoke with Grant and they were taking a lunch break and trying to decide what to do. Grant's group may try to go paddle a nearby river. Don't have any idea what any other group is thinking.

I live a few miles south of Shores Lake and the rain hasn't let up in hours.

Wonderful if you are home and cozy, soggy for them indeed.

Hey Jody!
Home now, good snuggle on the couch day! At 14' the road on north side of the bridge is underwater and 18' they have the evacuate the campground.

Just got off the phone with my brother he says the buffalo rangers are thinking about putting a kayak on at Kyles to look for folks, they had 15 boats camp b/w Kyles and Steele creek so far only 4 have taken out. Sounds like a perfect oppurtunity for the swift water guys to get some practice....

It rained the whole way home let up a little b/w Conway and LR but just poured here. Looks like lots more to come...

Just got back from camping overnight at Canoe School. The crowd had thinned considerably but folks were still going out this morning to finish what they started. Grant's group headed to Shores Lake where I guess there is a little section of moving water where they could work on some stuff. And I think they were then going to eyeball Hurricane.

The Fish Fry was pulled off beautifully, but the Pancake Breakfast was called off.

I won???!!!

Woohooooooo!!!!

Thank you, thank you. Someone tell me how to pick up my new toy. This is great. I'm so excited. I'm probably the only person who was at WW school who didn't already have a real WW boat, and this is the very one I was thinking about buying. This totally rocks!!

(Now would not be a good time to tell me that you meant the other David Lewis, which could be any of several people.)

David, I guess right now the fact that you won may just be a rumour irresponsibly started by me. Nothing like addng a little drama.

Please post if you get your confirmation and if anyone else knows for certain, please post also.

I just got a phone call from Gretchen, who sold me the ticket. She says I'm a winner. Oh, and Ed McMahan just rang my doorbell. Hang on and let me see what he wants.

Dammit Jim, I am a therapist not a competent journalist!!! Sorry for the drama.

I will now go back to my regularly scheduled job....

Based on your screen name, I'd have believed you if you'd called it before they pulled my name. :D
