Hailstone Sunday

Post by rynorris » Sat May 02, 2009 11:40 am

What are the odds it will be good to go? I've been waiting 8 years to have a go at it.

Depends on rain amounts today and tonight. If no more rain falls, then no, but if another inch or more falls tonight, then yes. I may be interested in going, post your intentions please.

Dave, I hope you are right. I am half way planning on it also.

I've wanted to run it for a long time but never caught it - would love to go Sunday. Any firm plans on meeting time?

I would get in on a very early start time. But if planning to start mid-morning, better count me out. Of course, my interest in a creek has been the death-knell for floatability the past few days.

Anyone interested in meeting at the take-out pretty early?

Terry Prater and Will from Springfield were at the Boxley Bridge when we took out from our Hailstone run today (5-2). They are camping up there tonight, and planning on running it in open boats tomorrow. We updated them pretty well about the downed tree at Room of Doom and the other wood in the river.

Terry said they shuttled Lance, Shelby, et al up to Beech Creek this afternoon. Can't wait to hear that trip report.

We shared the lower half of the river with a lot of big logs and limbs as the water rose, so wood may have washed in to some of the rapids after we passed. Ryan: you and John and the other knuckleheads need to keep a sharp eye out.
