April Central Chapter Mtg and elections

Post by MStanley » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:07 am

I want to let everyone know that this will probably be my last post as the CC President. This month’s meeting on 28 April will be my last official action as president. I have performed this function for my allocated 2 years and must now pass it on to new blood. My work commitments have increased significantly and I cannot dedicate the time required to represent the CC members as I should.

For those that missed the March CC meeting, I asked for nominations for Central Chapter President. I received one nomination at the meeting. I would welcome more nominations if you are interested in supporting a great club with your time and energy. I will be more than willing to assist with the transition and provide advice (if requested) on the day-to-day duties of a chapter president. The election for Central Chapter President will take place during the 28 April meeting and the new president will begin his/her duties with the May meeting. Steve has graciously agreed to continue as CC Treasure for another term.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of several important events taking place in the near future:

26 April Paddle For The Planet – Contact Jeremy Macky or OOO for details

25 April Bayou Meto (Jacksonville) Canoe Trail clean-up – Contact Julie @ jkburatowski@yahoo.com for details

28 April CC Meeting and elections

1-3 May ACC Canoe School

Volunteers or participation is always appreciated so help if you can.

Thanks again for all your support during my time as CC President and SYOW.

bump

Don't forget about the elections next week so be there to make your position known. If you are interested in taking a leadership role in the club, now is the time.

In addition, I received the following email asking for help from our clud and this will also be discussed at the meeting.

My name is Clayton Andrews and im setting up a clean-up for Fourche Creek on Sunday May 31st.
I've been in contact with Brenda Halbert at Keep Arkansas Beautiful and Johnnie Chamberlin from Audubon Arkansas
for support. I wanted to see if you guys at The Arkansas Canoe Club might be able to lend some xtra canoes for
the clean-up. Either way any support would be appreciated. Were gonna meet at Interstate Park at noon.

Thanks so much,
Clayton

Help if you can.

Last item, Larry Crane is bringing a DVD on a paddling topic. I need to get the details from Larry and will post ASAP.

I'll be out of town next week but wanted to make sure and say thanks Mike for all your hard work!

I don't think people always realize how much time and effort is involved in these positions

I'll second that emotion! Thanks Mike for "serving your time!"

(and a shameless bump to remind people about tonight's meeting)
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
