Final Cut Pro or iMovie - of course you have to have a Mac.
I 2nd using Premier Elements for a low cost app on the Windows side.

I'll second what the others said.
But if your not looking for anything fancy or expensive, try Windows Movie Maker. It's free and fairly easy to use. If you have Windows XP or Windows Vista, it should already be on your computer.

iMovie 08 sucks. I don't know why they changed the linear format of the original. I upgraded to the 09 version which is much better than the 08 version, but still limited in your creative options.
I have Final Cut Pro also. More of a learning curve, but more robust.
I avoid PCs.

Re: What video editing do YOU use?
Like others have said Windows Movie Maker does quite a bit for a free program. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/usin ... fault.mspx
I also use http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/index.html which is a lightweight also free Windows based program. It does format conversion really well in addition to being able to cut/splice scenes, etc. Not really any effects like you'll get in Movie Maker but quick and easy.
Those are pretty good for free but if you're wanting more you'll probably have to dish out some cash.

(In my best Elvis voice)Thankya,Thankya very much. Tried movie maker before, but on a much slower computer. Kept dumping everything just as I was saving it until I gave up. But I'll give it another shot, since I'm definitely leaning on the free-ish side of things.'Preciate the posts.
Re: What video editing do YOU use?
After reading these posts I decided to try to make a video of my own. I didn't even know that windows movie maker was on my computer, until i went looking for it. I had gone to the Locust Fork River in Birmingham, Alabama with a few friends and wanted to share it. I started playing around with movie maker and about an hour later I came up with this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSMr-bNw_rw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It was way easier to make than i thought it would be. Good luck with your videos too...
