AWESOME BUFFALO!

Post by mohawklady » Thu Apr 23, 2009 2:52 pm

Margaret Bartell(Stan) and I did a 24 mile float on the Buffalo Wednesday and Thursday. We put in at Kyles at 10 am Wednesday and floated 14 miles. The water at the Ponca Gage was right at 3 feet. It was as perfect as it gets. We was on the river by 7AM Thursday and was off by 10 at Carver. We saw many turles, a snake crossing the river, ospreys, several eagles, a wild turkey and two elk. We had a little rainshower during the night(the 20% chance) complete with a lightning show. The current was strong and we had alot of class 2 waves. Stan is a delight to paddle with. I am looking forward to many more trips with her. There was no other paddlers spotted during our float. There was a group at the mouth of the Little Buffalo, men from Virginia, Montana and ?. We have a awesome river, many come from all over to enjoy it. Let's contine to protect it and enjoy!!!!

Thank you Pam for the trip report. I love the Buffalo.
I am looking forward to paddling with yall on the Ozark Society float in June.
