OT -- Our Troops -- Off Topic

I've been doing this a few years. Its easy, just dollar store stuff, about $10 to mail it. If you (like most of my guys at work) can't run the errands or are too busy to mail stuff contact me about donating for my purchases. $5 or $10 bucks buys a lot at the dollar store and I will keep you updated with pics of what I send. You could send me $$ via amazon or paypal, contact me at thepaddlegal@gmail.com
It does a world of good for morale. You all know I am sure the state our soldiers emotions are in over there, especially when they lose buddies in roadside bombings. Some of these guy get NO mail from home. You can write a note to go in the box and I will mail it but do not write if you expect the gratification of an answer, I seldom get one, this is a pay it forward task. Address the letter to "any soldier" and the soldier getting the package will pass them out.
I do not know why our country cannot keep these women and men supplied with the simplest needs. I think it is logistics. I saw one medical unit asking for rifle scopes! Right now there is a unit living in tents asking for a sun shower! They have no way to keep clean except wipes.
We are the ones who can help them hang on and stay emotionally healthy with our love, prayers and support.
GET INVOLVED!

When I was over there I loved getting care packages. I had an pen pal from Kansas that kept me loaded with bukowski books and Copenhagen. I think this an awesome thing youAre doing.

guess how much copenhagen costs now?anthony wrote:When I was over there I loved getting care packages. I had an pen pal from Kansas that kept me loaded with bukowski books and Copenhagen. I think this an awesome thing youAre doing.
Please note I cannot send liquids or aerosol cans, soft packaging may be crushed, send cookies in boxes only and the major request seems to be baby wipes for the men and feminine products (Tpearls) for the women. Lots of these guys do not have showers and the women are really in dire need of things to keep clean with during "that time".

Re: OT -- Our Troops -- Off Topic
I am sending to Chaplain Herden, my boss is a pastor and I can get the literature about depression, etc. that the chaplain is requesting. This soldier also visits many units so packages will be spread far and wide.

While I am in Full-Support of all of are troops, I'm surprised this thread has lasted this long...
With all the deletions going on.
I have given to many organizations supporting OUR HEROS. I shall sign- up for this one as well.
Lost a son of a dear-friend in this battle of people who want to kill us all...
Many thanks to those who have the GUTS to do what I failed to do when I had the chance.
God Bless our Troops (if I'm Still allowed to say this)...
CapnTom...

Not quite sure what ya mean there, Tom?
Only deletion I've seen was one about Weaver Creek and I never even got to read it. My friend at ADEQ told me about it.
Anyway, as far as I know, the only threads or posts that get yanked are the ones that violate message board guidelines. I think there are only 3 moderators and they are all pretty reasonable when it comes having to monitor the posts. I've seen several posts here recently they say "censored" but that did not come from the moderators. Hope this info helps. Renee

To me there is nothing wrong about this post/thread, and no reason it would be deleted. Please read back over the message board guidelines for clarification. Note that if anyone feels there are parts that violate the guidelines you should report it rather than making comments as were made.
If you were trying to infer actions taken over the past few days as what is to come I ask that you do not to continue to make such statements. Not only are the comments against the message board guidelines they are slanderous.
If there is a problem that anyone wants to discuss feel free to call me on my cell phone. Thanks.

I am sorry for any comments I made. I admit I was out of line.
Don't mean to offend anyone. We all need to support the men and women that keep this country free.
Again ,I am truly sorry...

Re: OT -- Our Troops -- Off Topic
Thanks Tom, it's great to see this thread getting back on track!
I've got a nephew over in Europe somewhere right now; I don't know if he has been in harm's way yet or not. (Maybe he has, and just can't talk about it.)
Paddlegal, count on me for a donation; It'll be a day or two, but I'm "in".
Gee, considering where these men and women are, is this a case of "think locally, act globally?"

Re: OT -- Our Troops -- Off Topic
Yep, this is truelly good. I know it sounds crazy, but the logistics of getting troops supplied is amazing when you think of it. A lot of it depends on your networking/theft/supplyroom clerk sucking up abilities. WE had an old E-7 from nam that came in with a new humvee within the first week of arrival. After awhile word got around he stole it. Shoulda been chained. Then it was on! I'll tell you about stealing my cousins semi sometime on the river(yep 500k soldiers and I get his). But the point is, care packages fill in the blanks.Send em mouthwash(creme de menth, voka green foodcoloring. hot glue the seal back on.) Cigs, snuff, chew. Whatever it takes to help them get through. Soon as my unemployment gets kickin', I'll pitch in too. Way to go Tom and forum guys. Sometimes when my arrogance dictates that I constantly enlighten those lesser intelligent beings around me to the point I make myself ineffective. Then I must learn the hard way. And I too am still learning,c my post to Debo about snakebites.
