On the 28th of March, the "Red Bull Snowkayak 2009" will take place amidst the fabulous location of the skiing region Obertauern. Due to the huge media interest concerning the snowkayak event of 2008, the skiing region Obertauern decided to apply for holding the event in the year 2009. The OK team agreed on this idea due to the following reason: the change to a world wide known region offers much more options for the athletes as well as the spectators. Therefore, the Lürzer - and the Edelweissalm organise this event, which takes place in the course of the Höhenrauschparty, together with the Tourism Association Obertauern. A terrific atmosphere is guaranteed and an unforgettable event for the riders and the spectators is preprogrammed!

100 bibs are available. The first 60 bibs have already been assigned while the remaining 40 spots will be given away in the first week of March. So a real chance for one of the desired bibs is still existing. The registration is available via the menue point "registration".

The OK team decided on one alteration: The starting mode has been changed. First the riders have to overcome a qualifying. Each rider has to absolve a run while the 64 fastest athletes are promoted to the final runs. These final runs take place in heats of four riders, which makes the challenge more spectacular. In addition, the participation is for free. The dot on the i is represented by the bombastic after contest party which starts on the Edelweissalm and reaches its climax at the Lürzer Alm.

The "Snowkayak Meets Obertauern 2009" definitely represents one of the most imposing snowkayak events which have ever existed. Supported by real apres ski and exhausting DJs on the Edelweissalm, masses of spectators are awaited to experience this event and to encourage the riders to incredible rides to hell. Be part of this crazy challenge and of a never seen after contest party in the skiing mecca Obertauern.
