Great run at Boxley today at about 4.5. Took the lazy option and used the rec boat. Kept that cockpit soaked all day, punching through buku wave trains. Could have done lots of wicked surfing in the Rampage.
Lots of interesting folks, including an elderly lady who is literally on a solo trek around the world. We chatted it up in Spanish for a while as she had just returned from Mexico and Guatemala.
Awsome scenery today with waterfalls everywhere. I left myself time to go find Glory Hole and darned glad I did. Spectacular! Amazing!
Anybody interested in heading back up there Thursday, Friday, and/or Saturday, holler. Would also be interested in Lil Mo or Illinois Bayou.
Fun day at Boxley!

It was good to meet you. I had a good time. This was my first time on that stretch, and I am glad I did.
What is the glory hole? I am intrigued.
Thanks

Re: Fun day at Boxley!
Just a few miles above Boxley Canyon, there's a little stream that cascades into another valley. An old waterfall undercut a bluff and created a big overhang, common to the area. A smaller fall just above the big one, however, eventually drilled a hole through the overhang. Now, that little fall drops directly into a hole that's about 3 - 4 feet wide and 6 feet deep through solid bedrock.
The hole is so smooth and near perfect it's hard to believe it's natural and not a drop flows past it to make it to the old fall. That leaves a dry grotto underneath with wiater dropping into one spot through a massive hole, smack in the middle of everything. On a warm day, you can just stand under it and look straight up through the hole at the sky!
I had seen video clips and still photos on TV, internet, etc., but nothing does it justice. It blew me away when I looked down at it for the first time yesterday.
The trailhead on the hwy is unmarked and just looks like a logging road or Jeep trail. I wasn't at all sure I was in the right place for the first few minutes, but there's a directional sign where the Jeep trail narrows to a foot trail.
