Note left on my truck at Cadron.
Note left on my truck at Cadron.
I was parked at the bridge going to .65 and when I returned there was a note on my truck saying that they had the plate numbers of our trucks and was going to run the tags and call the Law. I even picked up some trash. This is not right that there is no place to launch. Some how there needs to be a public launch there. Dose anyone else think that.

We will take it that you are talking about the Pinnacle Springs bridge area? Gentleman has posted that as private. Issues remain about access. Cadron Dude can enlighten us once more with more input.
Might search the board for previous posts regarding this matter.

Re: Note left on my truck at Cadron.
Luke, you didn't mention exactly where you parked, so we're guessing river right.
Yesterday, there were two vehicles (car and truck) parked on the river right (west side) above the bridge when I went by. That is not normally where we park, but probably there were other vehicles on the river left side by the white pipe fence when you got there, so you parked accordingly. There is a different land owner on the river left side, not that he wants us there either, but I have not heard of warning notes on vehicles there unless the gate was blocked. So looks like the river right side landowner is not welcoming us either.

Either late afternoon on Saturday or after church on Sunday would be best for me... but, I'll try to do whatever time's best for the landowner...

Re: Note left on my truck at Cadron.
[EDITED TO ADD: Okay - so some moderation happened on this thread, so now my rant seems pretty arbitrary and well, crazy, but suffice to say I was responding here to criticisms about the ACC and what we are doing (or not doing) about Cadron Creek access. I still would like to challenge more people to get involved and for concerned folks to come out to Tuesday 3/24 Central Chapter meeting to hear more about this issue. Thanks, crazy Heather aka Lupe]
Alright, this is a bit out of character for me, but here I go anyway...
Bob, with all due respect, you don't seem to be aware of what ACC members are doing about the loss of access at Cadron Creek. Just because you personally haven't attended a meeting where this has been discussed, or been involved with the dozen or so club members who have been working on this in one way or another, does NOT mean the ACC is not doing anything. And Zach is right, honey, not vinegar!!!
There seems to be some misconception (this part is not aimed just at you, but in general) about who exactly the ACC is. All the ACC is, is a group of paddlers, all of whom have busy lives, families, schedules, etc., and who really, really like to get out and paddle whenever we have some free time. Now on top of that, there are a number of ACC members who ALSO try to eek out some more spare time here and there to actually volunteer to help the club run...whether that is serving as a chapter president and running monthly meetings, or trying to keep the membership database organized, or volunteering to run major events each year like Whitewater School, Rec School, or Rendezvous, or, yes, working on RIVER ACCESS issues. A lot of this work - and while yes, we are all volunteers - it IS work to keep everything running - is frankly not always fun, glamorous, or exciting, and I think it's obvious it can be quite thankless, but we do it because we love paddling and we enjoy sharing paddling with others and we believe the organized club has more strengths than weaknesses (note that I didn't say we don't have weaknesses, and there's a lot of things we certainly want to get better at doing, but we believe the good still outweighs the bad!)
I find it frustrating to see people come on OUR ACC message board, which the ACC has chosen to allow to be open to the general public, many of whom are not even ACC club members, and use OUR message board to criticize us!
If anyone out there, member or not, thinks the ACC could do more, you are undoubtedly right!!! But I challenge you to then JOIN the club if you are not already a member, talk to your chapter president or any of the board members, and find out who in the club needs help, and then VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME to help make things better!
Loss of access to Cadron Creek is indeed a terrible loss to the paddling community, the central chapter in particular. Steps ARE being taken, but I can guarantee NOTHING is going to get done as fast as we all wish. If you want to learn more about what is being done, please come to the Central Chapter meeting tomorrow at the Oyster Bar and I will ask Mike Stanley that we set aside time as a part of the meeting so that those of us who have been working on this can share what we know and have done so far.
I apologize for my exasperated tone! Rant over!

Some removing of posts has occurred so some comments might not make full sense.
As Lupe said there is work being done on Cadron Creek Access and we ask that any posts regarding this process are only of a positive nature. We do not want to jeopardize the limited access or any future access to Cadron Creek.
Cheers!

I have only been on the Cadron once and it was a while ago, but what happened to the outfitters out there where everyone used to put on the Cadron at?

Where is the Oyster Bar located. I will try to make the meeting. I would try to do almost anything to get a public launch. Even a little foot trail would work.

Hi Luke,
3003 W Markham in Little Rock:

Meeting doesn't start until 7:30 (I think), but folks come earlier to eat and socialize. I hope you can make it!

3003 West Markham at the corner of Booker Street, parking in the back or along Booker Street. Official stuff starts at 7:30, but most people show up to socialize and eat around 7.

Re: Note left on my truck at Cadron.
rynorris,
I removed your post because there are active discussions and actions being taken on Cadron Creek Access. The last thing we want to do at this point is hurt our existing limited access nor do we want to hurt any future access to this or any other creek.
Your post was also removed because what you said was not the truth, the ACC does not actively stand for eminent domain. Again this would/could portray a negative image of the ACC when it is not due.
If you have any questions about your post being removed or about the ACC as a whole you can let myself or any other ACC Board Member know about it and we will help you out.
Good job on being a smartass extrordinaire though, I enjoy it but not on topics such as this.
