Post by Jim Krueger » Fri Mar 20, 2009 4:12 pm

Marlo and I are heading over to the Narrows to Glenwood run tomorrow
morning. We plan to check by Caddo River Outfitters at the Glenwood bridge about 10:15-10:30 if anyone should care to join in.

Best Regards

Hey Wes,

It would be a pleasure to have you all float with us anytime. We will probably float the Caddo as much as possible, as we do every Spring and early Summer. I can't project next weekend but will try and make a more timely post next week than I have today.

Best Regards
Jim

Change 1 to Plan B, We will now be floating the 3.5 mile Dragover section of the Upper Ouachita River, meeting at the Dragover C.G. about 11 am.
Other paddlers still welcome.

See ya there. After I go through Gibbs, is there a sign or road name for my left turn to Dragover?

Connie,

Yes indeed, there's a sign less than a mile farther West of Gibbs that indicates Dragover to the left. Sorry I had never heard of Gibbs when we visited via phone however after looking at my atlas also, there is a Gibbs, although I don't think there is a sign for it on the highway. I'm afraid Gibbs has probably seen it's better days and is now overshadowed by the likes of Sims and Washita for more 'happening places' :, and relegated to history, at least by the AHTD) Call us if you have a problem, if you can get a signal. The better part of valor though is for me to recommend you look for the Dragover sign about 5 miles or so West of the turn at Washita, which I do know is named with a sign.

Probably the only thing left at Gibbs is a favored phone booth.

What another very nice day out on the river today! Seven of us put in about a mile and a half above the Dragover CG and floated down and through the Dragover loop. At 3.5ft. the river is fun and more powerful than lower levels but some features are a little washed out than at say 2.50ft.
The rain over in Western Ark. was little, and the sun even tried to break out some for us. An added treat was running into Renee and Scott & friend on our way to retrieve our shuttle vehicles. Afterward, a very fine evening meal at Rocky Mountain Grill in Pearcy :D I'm full as a tick...still.
Thanks to everyone, Marlo and I had a great time! Beth, I hope that kayak tying job of mine did OK? Also hope you will join us again. Marlo is 'fixing' to download shots from the day and see what she got.

Best Regards
Jim

Wonderful day on the river! It was great to meet new folks, really had a good time. Jim, the boat didn't budge - - thanks for your help.

Look forward to floating with ya'll again, hopefully sometime soon.

Beth
