Help picking a boat!

Post by sspecke » Mon Mar 16, 2009 9:41 pm

Hi there everyone!

I'm in the market for another boat. I have a pyranha s6f 193 playboat. Its just a little to small to stay in all day. I need some thoughts on some boats, I'v never been in any of these so if anyone has one that I could sit in would be great!!! :D I'm 6'3 and 260-265 pounds

I'm looking at the:
Wavesport fuse 64
Wavesport super ez
Pyranha I4 large
Jackson super fun 2008 model not classic, think it may be to small.
Trying to keep the price around $600 or less if possible, getting married in June!

I want a boat I can play in but be ok in going down the Tot and being in it for more than a couple hours.

Thanks for any thoughts!
Lets go paddle!

Keep your play boat and buy the Overflow X that's for sale in the classifieds Its plenty roomy and quite inexpensive. Bomber creek boat with room for all day stays for those low water runs.

My two cents worth

Bob

I just nticed a Prijon Chopper for sale for Five Hundred. This should be a pretty roomy boat. Bomber plastic to boot!

Based on the boats you listed, I'm thinking you are looking for a slightly larger, more comfortable play boat/aggressive river runner. The Super EZ and I-4 Large should work for you.

The Super EZ as been primary boat for 3 years, and I love it. I'm 6'2" and have weighed as much as 265 lbs while enjoying my Super EZ. Because this design is a little dated, you should be able to get one of these for well under $600, probably $400 - $500 range.

My brother is 6'5" and heavier than me and he paddles the large I-4. This has been has "playboat" for several years, and it works well for him.

I don't have any firsthand experience with the SuperFun, but it should work for you based on its spec's. I would expect a used SuperFun (the new design) would be the most costly of all the options you listed. These have not been out as long, and there are a good number of people looking to get a used one.

My $0.02,
Rick

Thanks for the info! I'v been wondering about the super ez, I have seen a few for sale but want to get in one first, see how it feels. I really like my I have now. I need and want more foot room and a little more volume in the back. I've been told i look like the Titanic sinking b/c I'm so big :D.
