Sorry, I didn't see your PM about guessing today's Richland level until this morning, but it led to this post...
Many years back, Walter Felton developed a chart for predicting future Cossatot levels. It can be found here:
http://www.arkansascanoeclub.com/misc/Coss-future.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
That inspired me to collect enough data to do the same thing for Richland; that one can be found here:
http://www.arkansascanoeclub.com/misc/Rich-future.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
These charts allow you to guess future creek levels; within limitations. They're not 100%, but with "leaves off" and no additional rain, they're pretty darn good. For example, since Richland is at about 4 feet as I type this Sunday Morning, I can guess the level tomorrow morning should be about 3.1 feet, enough for a low water run on a day when it is supposed to hit 60 degrees. That's enough planning to know that Monday is not a good day for work of any kind...
Bookmark these links; we haven't gotten around to listing them on the front page yet...

Re: Predicting Future Levels on Richland and the Cossatot
FYI - the Cossatot and Richland Creek River Level Predictor pages have been added as links at the bottom of the ACC "River Levels" page. On the ACC home page, click the "River Level" link on the menu on the right hand side. Once on the River Level page, scroll to the bottom and you will find links to the Cossatot and Richland Predictor pages.
We used the Cossatot predictor page this weekend and it was pretty darn near spot-on for predicting Sunday's level!
Anyway - next time the Tot or Richland get that heavy mid week rain and you just can't find a way to weasel out of work, remember to check the River Level page and use the predictor pages to see if there still might be water left for you on the weekend!
Thanks again to Walter (the Tot) and Cowper (Richland) for pulling together these resources for everyone to use!

I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.
