Spammers on the Board

Post by Crane » Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:12 pm

With the recent up-surge of spammers on the Message Board, is it time to start restricting ... something? Just raising the issue...

Is this true? i thought they just stay persistant and find new ways to get in. Ask Jody after dealing with them on her board.
You sure this is on the right channel?

this is going to cause more problems, and probably end with me getting deleted in some way or another.

Does that stiffer hull bust through big holes better?

Wow, I bought two of those before I realized it was spam...

On the other hand, wouldn't it be great to have a button beside each thread/message to report it as spam so the mods could figure it out quickly...

I was actually pointing at Netphones1... I don't figure we ought complain about paddlers selling anything they need to sell to buy that next boat... But, who knows who those strangers are...??

All I'm saying is that if that person happens to stumble upon a bunch of brand new top of the line phones, but didn't need them (very likely, who needs more than one phone) and he wanted a to buy a boat, what better forum! Wait until the guys sales all the phones before you pass judgment. If he sells every phone and then doesnt buy a boat or some gear, then he's a spammer. This whole topic is premature

Just banned two more commercial spammers; thanks everyone for helping keep an eye out.

Good news / bad news
GOOD: Only 5 total bans so far for commercial spam.
BAD: Three of those 5 were just this week, 2 within the last 5 minutes thanks to this thread.

Regud: You're unlucky on your timing, but it's all good. With 51 posts, there's no doubt you're just a regular member using the for sale page to sell your stuff. The five who were banned each had 1 post total; shameless commercial spam from the get-go.
