Re: Remix XP9
I want to know the same thing...looks like a great boat!
Re: Remix XP9
We've gotta demo, come try it out and tell us for yourselves. By the way, this boat got a 2009 Paddler's Pick from Paddler magazine. It is a great looking boat!

Re: Remix XP9
Like the looks of this kayak. Jeremy how does it compare to the approach?
What is the price of this new kayak?

Re: Remix XP9
Karla,
Do you still have your Approach?
Just looking at the specs, this boat seems almost like a cross-breed between your Hero and your Approach. It's got more WW in it's blood than the Approach, but way more flatwater than the Hero.
Looks like it has a bigger cockpit than the Hero, and of course it is longer and with a skeg will tackle the flats much better.
But the cockpit is clearly outfitted to make rolling more of an option than the Approach, which can be rolled, but isn't really set up for it. But relative to the comment on their website, "super easy to roll" - I would be very surprized if it is significant easier, or ANY easier to roll than a Hero.
If you're selling two boats and replacing them with this one, it might be a good choice for you, but I don't think it is going to do anything one of those boats won't already do.

Re: Remix XP9
I was just interested in thinking of selling approach to replace with the Liquidlogic. I am not selling my Hero. But the approach is very stable, just like the outfitting better in the liquidlogic.

Re: Remix XP9
Where the approach was a recreational boat with whitewater features, Liquid Logic took an existing whitewater hull and add recreational features. The seat on the Remix is also a definite upgrade....but I couldn't have said it better than Cowper

So, won't be selling my approach per what you have said Cowper. Not
giving up the Hero nor learning to roll.

looks like a good boat for expeditions on the Upper upper piney creek, Hailstone at moderate levels, Buffalo river, and the East fork of the Illinois bayou.

It's my valantine now. I can't wait to get it wet. I got the 10' model because I'm a fairly large guy & am prone to take along a good size lunch and libations.
And thanks Jeremy for helping Lance get his Ammo outfitted.

Re: Remix XP9
Ok, have only had the xp10 for a few weeks now and let me preface this short review with the fact that I'm approaching this from a recreational paddlers view. I'm not a WW guy, but with my son having an interest, I thought this might make a nice addition to the fleet. I've paddled few kayaks other than rec style, and mostly those designed more for "cruising" I and II, fishing, etc.
Comfort....it's pretty sweet. The "badass outfitting" is really some cool stuff. The seat adjustment is right on, with a TON of cockpit space. There is room to stretch out, pull your knees up, or even throw them out of the cockpit all together. Rec guys will love the space.
Flat water....on the lake with 5-10 knt wind....I was surprised. With the skeg down, she tracked very well. With a moderate cruising stroke, bow sway was 3-4 inches, not bad for a 10 footer with all that rocker. I was also a bit surprised at how she shunned the wind as well. Now don't get me wrong, you do have a sense of how much water you are pushing while in flat water and of course there's little glide to her, but overall, pretty decent flatwater performance with a whitewater hull. She really makes good time across the pools with the skeg down.
Moving water....with the skeg up...well she gets back to her roots. Very agile and a lot of fun. She responds quickly and predictably. I can't comment yet on rolling. But, for the "rec" paddler that is just getting into a little more "playing", it's a blast. Eddy and hydraulic play is quite fun and easy. I think it would be fair to call this boat a real confidence booster.
It would be nice if the skeg control was mounted farther forward, maybe even forward of the cockpit. I understand why it is where it is, but can be a bit of a hassle. I'm not sure how many times I flipped that lever b/t Tyler and Grinder's on Friday, but it was a lot.
Storage...tons. I packed everything into it for a two night stay with ease. I like overnighting, which was one reason I chose the 10 over the 9. If you can't fit what you need into the hatch, there's a bit of space b/t the seat and the rear bulkhead, and a large amount forward of the pegs.
I know you WW guys approach things from a different angle, but I see this boat as getting a lot of rec boaters into WW. All in all, I'm quite pleased.
Happy paddling...

Re: Remix XP9
I got a chance to demo the XP10 on flatwater. It was surprisingly fast. I didn't have much problem keeping up with a 16ft sea kayak. It felt much more like a rec boat than a whitewater boat though. I think for someone with a strong whitewater background, the Pyranha Fusion may be worth looking at too. Here's an article by NOC on hybrids...
