Terry, we're planning on going to Dixon Ford to work on it on Sunday. If you guys want to go to Richland Sat and then work on the Hailstone shuttle with us Sunday, let me know. I'd be at Richland Sat, but I'm going to help Joe and Mel with her mom's farm then. Lots of folks need help in NWA, especially the rural parts, so get out and lend a hand if you can.

:?: Has anyone been down to Dixon Ford (Hailstone put-in) to check the roads there?

Have not been to Dixon Ford. Life got a bit complicated in Newton County since the storm - dealing with clean-up operation around the house, no heat, no power - maybe till February 14!. I think the road (mostly the upper part) probably needs a lot of work. This is how my driveway (elev ~ 2270 feet) looked last Wednesday:

Lower part of the road should be fine. There is no damage whatsover in lower elevations - Boxley Valley, for example was not touched by ice.

Fish, we will only be there on Saturday. I expect that we will concentrate on the Dixon Ford road. Will try to save you some for Sunday. I'll give our results here as soon as we get home Saturday eve.

marmoss, that photo looks familiar. Springfield looked like that in '07.

For you rural folks next big ice storm you should stock up on cheap shotgun shells and during the storm walk down your drive way and shoot in the trees knocking down the ice building up. It might not keep your power on but I bet it would reduce some of the damage around your home. Just a thought.
