Motel in Jasper
Thinking about bringing my girls (10 and 14) to Jasper area to hike this weekend. Any suggestions for cheap yet clean motels?

Re: Motel in Jasper
Was a year ago in the spring when we were there. Nice rooms reasonable, good restaurant and real friendly folks. They are on hwy 7 south of Jasper... card says Deer area. We did not spend the night but ate and looked at a room for a return trip with mom.

The experience I've had with Motels in the Jasper area lead me to suggest that you drive 19 miles more to Harrison and stay up there. The Holiday Inn has an indoor pool, hot tub, free breakfast, and much nicer rooms and better beds that make it well worth the extra money IMO.

I did just that a year or so ago. I was not to thrilled about the drive to Harrison but an indoor pool would surely be a hit with the girls. Hmmm.

Re: Motel in Jasper
My experience in Jasper -- I like the cabins at Little Switzerland -- close to area attractions and the great outdoors, clean, neat and comfortable during my stays this year. Plus I like the experience of staying away from just another large hotel chains. Expect to pay $70+.
In Harrison I typically stay at the new Hampton Suite right next door to Holiday Inn. It's just a little nicer and newer -- IMHO better bed linens. Albeit there's little else to distinguish the two once you fall asleep. Stayed at the recently remodeled and updated 1929 Hotel Seville last weekend -- Harrison's only "boutique hotel" -- very comfortable and clean. I stayed in the "old hotel" and room lacked any windows and was a little small -- but comfortably so. Next time I might stay in the new "annex". These three hotels (considered to be among the best in Harrison) will all cost $85-100 depending on room -- no pool at the Seville. After those three you're going to take a step down in quality and price in Harrison -- but the next best is probably the Quality/Comfort Inns (around $65-75) -- nice but far too many smoking rooms and far too many transient workers and families with "screamin' kids" for me in my handful of visits. The comfort of your stay will often be dependent on what room you stay in. Days Inn is to be avoided -- nuff said. Haven't yet stayed at Super 8 and Ozark Mountain Inn (a throwback from the 60s).
Also going to throw in a plug for the Carlton Marion Inn in Yellville -- yeah I know -- what does that have to with Jasper? But if you are in Yellville for about $45/night you'll find a clean, comfortable room and friendly proprietors. hard to beat the price.

Rooms I mentioned were 50 ish.. you could get one of their cabins for 90 or so. No indoor pool tho?
