Cadron Noon Saturday?

Post by Lupe » Fri Jan 02, 2009 8:52 pm

Assuming no big thunder/lightning in the area, anyone want to paddle Cadron Saturday - say noon under bridge?

Looks like 3 or 4 of us are meeting under the bridge at noon if anyone else wants to join...

Cheers

I am almost certain that my decision to not decide until it was too late to decide to go saved me from a potentially debilitating case of heat exhaustion this afternoon. As I worked in the driveway on some long-overdue car maintenance, I actually broke into a sweat wearing a tee shirt. Had I gone to the river, it is almost certain I would have worn too much, and suffered immensely. (At least, this is what I'm trying to convince myself of.)

So, how about a trip report?

Well, the only thing more weird than how freakishly warm it was out there, had to be that Charlie, Curtis and I were the only ones out there, although a couple dudes in jeans and rec boats passed us right around barking dog rapid.

You did miss out on river salvage, though. There is a jon boat in a major pin. There was ample evidence that someone had tried (in vain) to get the boat free (the trolling motor was removed and was on the bank, there was a shovel wedged in the boat, and a come-along on shore). You could have had a fun time rigging a z-drag to free that thing.

I can report that Curtis is well on his way to become a surfing maniac. I heard "one more time" uttered at quite a few waves on the way downriver. :D
