Nomad vs. Jefe

yeah... well i checked out the jefe last week at the store. and ya'll have a nomad 8.1 and 8.5 in correct? guess we'll just figure it out when i head that way with the ol credit card.

Just about everyone on this thread has made some very good points to think about.
I would just like to say that I love the Nomad 8.5.
It has great stability and resurfaces better than probably anything out there!
They seem to track a little better when they have some gear in the stern to add a little weight.
They are pretty quick and boof well.
Have not had any problems with the plastic.
They are solid and safe.
Outfitting is simple but works.
Great boat!

Not here to add any confusion, as Dagger and Liquidlogic both make a mighty fine creekboat. I am here however, to tell you that Fluid also makes a mighty fine creeker. I have owned a Solo Expedition since July and have been thoroughly impressed. 16 days on the Colorado (Grand Canyon) and several Cheoah runs. Hope to get the opportunity to take it down more steep and technical runs but I have no doubt as to how it will perform.

Did the hatch compartment stay dry on the Grand? (I'm thinking about getting a Liquid Logic Remix XP10 for overnight trips.)

For the Record, No other Creeker Resurfaces like the MEGA Rocker ! First of all, you can barely get the nose under water, and if you do, it comes back up like a Polaris missle !! ( This In response to the Nomad being about the best Resurfacing Creeker) Butt, I have not paddled a Nomad -- so I better watch my BIG Mouff ..... Freddie

I got a very small amount of water in the hatch each day, about a quarter cup or less. I learned to put everything on top of my frisbee and it stayed dry. The owner of Fluid had told me that it was a problem early on but that they had changed sealants and the problem was solved. He offered to send some of the new sealant but it doesn't leak bad enough for it to be a concern. If I were to overnight with it, I would simply put everything in a garbage bag and it would be fine.
This leak is not through the hatch, but through the closed cell divider wall. I'm sure LL's hatch is bomber as well.

let's clarify on this here. yes the mega rocker resurfaces like a rocket ship, but that's not typically desirable. you can watch the mega rocker and videos and see it shoot into the air bow up when re-surfacing a big drop. looks cool until you get that a** back flipped and hammered on under the curtain. the nomad is reported and looks to be a more controlled stable resurface. that control is and predictablility is what makes the nomad nice to me.

p.s. the burn seems to come back up with that same predicatability.

oh, and just for the record. I'd put the burn against any boat out there as far as boofability. I think the beauty of a nice boofing boat is how is releasing the stern from the lip. there's a huge difference in the clean quick release of the burn compared to my old cfs, which is a tried and tested boof machine itself. you could always get the nose up in the cfs, but the burn tends to feel more like you are taking flight when you hit the line right.

I talked to Norm at Bliss-Stick. It looks like they have an expedition boat on the drawing board. I guess I'm going to have to wait a little longer.

Not many (intentional) lengthy overnight whitewater runs in the southeast where a hatch comes in handy but it was great on the Colorado. I do like the fact of not worrying about airbags.

I've been an agent for about a year now and I haven't seen any blems noted in the warehouse stock list. I've ordered 3 boats and the only thing I've seen is some minor stuff from shipping. If there's any shipping damage, you always have the option of refusing it though.

While the driver is still at your doorstep please check the package over for any obvious signs of damage from the delivery company, If you are happy , you can thank the driver.



Pre-cautionary only ......If on the other hand you do notice obvious signs of damage to the kayak like tears to the plastic and chaffing or forklift holes in your kayak, dont let the driver go just yet, have him take the boat back and please do not accept the delivery, Contact Bliss-stick Customer services urgently so we can get a replacement on its way.
