Saturday, Nov. 8th paddling in Central AR

Post by Susan Tinker » Thu Nov 06, 2008 8:05 am

Meet at Rockport, Saturday morning @ 10:45 am to shuttle to Remmel. Bring your own lunch! You know Marlo doesn't share her chee-tos very often! (just kidding Marlo!)

I've had some emails about paddling Saturday, maybe Dragover or somewhere in Central AR.
We'll watch the rain today!!! And water levels to see what opportunities are available for Saturday float trip.
The leaves (if it doesn't get too windy) will be beautiful!

More info soon!

I would love to go somewhere. But the rain is going to clear the state pretty quick according to the radar.

Don't say that Karla. I am hoping I didn't jinx it by posting just as it started to rain!
We need some rain dances going on out there!

I don't think today's rain will boost levels very much, although the longer forecast for next week looks a little more hopeful.

Assuming the flowing waters do not rise, would ya want to consider a lazy fall foliage paddle at Pinnacle Mt. down the Little Maumelle on Saturday? Colors should be pretty through there, and Saturday looks like a nice sunny day...
I've heard that into every life a little of it must fall,
but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.

Come to Arkansas POST!!! Its not that far and I got gas yesterday for $1.98 a gallon in Pine Bluff. Woohoo! The great thing about eastern Arkansas as we don't have to wait for rain to paddle.

Believe it or not, I put in at Bayou Bartholomew yesterday at the Boat Ramp beside the Wal-Mart parking lot right there at the Olive St. exit off of I-530. I spooked a deer just round the bend. You can't get away from the highway noise but the bayou was lovely - good fall color.

I think Marlo and I may join you as well :) I'm open to suggestions but the moving water options seem limited to Remmel float. Dragover and the Caddo near Amity are also doable but very low.

Best Regards

How about meeting at Rockport at 10:45 am, shuttling to Remmel and take lunch for a riverside lunch stop ... chicken, chee-tos and M & M's! Bring your own!!!!

Thanks for checking the levels Jim!

If we lollygag around long enough afterwards, mexican food might just hit the spot for an early dinner .... to be decided tomorrow by everyone!

Lupe: Can we give the alligators one more week to settle in for winter? I was so glad Karla has learned about the alligators too!

See everyone at Rockport @ 10:45 am tomorrow morning!

O.K. I haven't been there for a year or so. Look for a big red Ford with a yellow kayak in the back.
