Monsoon,
I believe section 1 is around 19 miles. Be willing to push yourself and have optimism, but be realistic as well. Look at your group and determine what you feel is appropriate. 19 miles in 2.5 days is very doable. But if you have some party members who have not been preparing and who are not very comfortable carrying packs over uneven terrain then that should be considered. I have found that sometimes less is more when backpacking unless your setting a distance goal and plan on knocking out all section 1 so you can head to section 2.
I have done many in and out hikes due to 1) lack of shuttle and 2) because i have no set agenda once i am on the trail, which is one of the main reasons we go out in the first place, to get away from schedules. If i find a creek to explore, great, or a waterfall or a fern to shoot photos at, whatever. You can keep your pace your own instead of having your destination set the pace, if that makes sense. Plus, i have found when you turn around and back out the way you came, you usually see more the second go around than the first. Either way you ll have a great time.

Awesome. That sounds perfect R.L.A! I think we will 9 per day and hike to White Rock and then do th loop down there for the last part. Thanks!!
