Directions to Hawksbill?, again
Directions to Hawksbill?, again
May end up there tomorrow. I know its off Cave Mtn rd. Sign?
Re: Directions to Hawksbill?, again
I've never gone in that way from Red Star, I've always gone the other way from the road at the Hailstone take-out.
Either way there is a relatively large roadside parking area (probably room for 6 or 8 cars perpendicular to the road); on your right from Boxley, I guess that is West side of road. If you're coming from Boxley it is soon after an old white building on your right (Church/One Room Schoolhouse type). This is also the place to start for Doug Hollow which makes for a nice loop coming out at Hawksbill. Coming from Red Star, if you get to the Old White building you just missed it.
I don't remember there being much marking the trail entrance, but I think there is some kind of sign at the parking area with the usual forest service round post fence; I've not been there in years, so I might be making up the sign.

Park at N35.89891 W93.45820
Walk down to N35.89085 W93.44021
If you're not into GPS, you can still use the above numbers to cut-and-paste into things like Google Earth, then switch over to view Googlemaps, or go to Mapquest, enter it that way, etc, etc

Trash: Get a little every time you go!
Re: Directions to Hawksbill?, again
You can actually type 'Little Rock, AR to N35.89891 W93.45820' into the Google Maps website and get directions, but I'd take a close look at the map online and make sure you know basically where to turn. Seems google maps often has different names for roads (could be the 'real' name, but not always what the sign is gonna' say when you get there).
Re: Directions to Hawksbill?, again
Not to mention little roads in remote areas that are not really there or that one may not wish to drive down. Our gps has said to take roads that have no bridges, barely a 4wheeler trail and stuff like that.
You sure this is on the right channel?

Tim Man - why don't you just pull in behind some stranger who sounds like she knows the route, blindly trusting that everything will be okay (enter center, work right, and avoid the large rocks at the bottom).eubie wrote:May end up there tomorrow. I know its off Cave Mtn rd. Sign?
P.S. No back flips once you get there.
