Does anybody know what the relationship between the location of the road blockage and the spot where OHT crosses? GPS coordinates for both would be great if anybody has them.
I'm looking to hike up to Keefe Falls Saturday before the party and am trying to figure out the best way to get there.

The landslide is at N35.78207 W92.93561
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the trail runs right through Richland Creek campground, meaning you'll need to approach from the North. Richand Bridge (the road crossing just downstream of the campground) is at N35.79687 W92.92837

Well, you are both right and wrong about where the OHT meets the road.
From what I can read on the USFS page it does pass though Richland Creek Campground, but it also crosses Falling Water Road someplace else back towards highway 16 roughly four trail miles before Richland Campground. The other crossing is the one I was planning to use to hike in to Keefe Falls so I wouldn't have to go the long way around and start from Richland.
Knowing where the landslide is helps. I am pretty sure from that that the other crossing will be accessible from the south. I'll just have to watch for it to cross the road if nobody else can tell me how to find it.

Got some photos of the landslide Saturday. It's going to be a major engineering feat to fix the road. They could "temp fix" it with some bulldozing, but another serious rain is just going to bring down more material unless they find a way to build a retaining wall, remove a good chunk of mountainside, or re-route the road significantly.
A section of hillside roughly 150' x 250' about eight or nine feet deep got up and moved on top of the road. Water seems to have undercut the whole area, trees, roots, and all. the 150' x 250' area uphill of the slide is nothing but barren, half-powdered shale that finishes powdering when you walk on it. Climbing the hill is like walking up a sand dune and when you get to the "top" of what looks like rock you see a 20' that it is seperated from the real bluff and is just waiting for a good rain (or other excuse) to slide off as well.

I've always wanted to see the area of Richland, and Falling Waters but haven't yet been able, I usually am either bound for the Buffalo with a bunch of gear or not sure I could traverse the road with the travel trailer. At any rate, I have watched the reports of this blockage on various threads since it occured. Other than an interest in seeing the area, I don't have a dog in this fight, but can't understand why the blockage hasn't been breached. I do have an understanding of landscaping and, to a lesser degree ,heavy earth moving and I know every county in the state has one or more 'size large', rubber-tired, loaders, as well as bulldozers. This is certainly big but they could easily have made some progress given how long the problem has been going on. What's the situation as you or others understand?

It's probably a combination of things. Money and equiptment needed to do the job may have had higher priorities, the road only leads to the Richland campground (anything much beyond Richland would be shorter to get to coming the other way anyhow), and the fact that clearing the road won't be enough.
"Just" clearing the road would be like digging into the side of a sand dune. The more you remove, the more will fall on the road, especially the next time it rains.
