Creek Information
Creek Information
Does anyone know the name of the creek that meets with the little Mo' directly after the winding stairs on river left? It's the one that comes in at the big conspicuous rock formation on river left. I hiked it on thursday and took a lot of pictures. Most of it is runnable and fun looking, but the two best drops may not be runnable at any level. One terminates into an unavoidable undercut that also has a nasty looking sieve at the backside of the undercut, and the other is sieved out real bad. The problem is I don't know the name of the creek, and wasn't able to find a put in after about 2 miles of hiking the creek. If we can find a put in, it looks like an interesting, IV - V technical creek. Let me know if y'all know anything else about this baby.
Re: Creek Information
I believe it is Blaylock Creek.
Re: Creek Information
I don't know if that's it... It just doesn't seem to come in at the right spot on the map... It looks like Blaylock comes in downstream of the stairs and this one hits right at the stairs. I think that you can see the creek on the topo map, but it isn't named, and it doesn't intersect with a road at any point.

Blaylock comes in on river right above winding stairs rapid. I don't know if the creek you speak of has a name. Viles Branch comes in below winding stairs but it also comes in on river right.

So you're saying that it's going to be tough to find any more beta on this one. If somebody can figure out a put in this creek would be really interesting with some water going through it. It doesn't have any serious drops, but in my opinion, it is more technical than Crooked. The exposure level is pretty high, and there are some real bad places, but it still looks like an exciting run. I got pictures of every rapid, but like i said, I walked it until it flattened out for a while, and couldn't find a trail or anything.
Re: Creek Information
Any chance it could be the raven branch... on the hiking map from the U.S.F.S. it looks like it might be a possibility
