Has anyone seen an open boat do this?

Post by Ryan Center » Mon Sep 15, 2008 7:29 pm

Footage is of Sammy doing Rooster's Two Step on Sandy Springs and Sammy and Lucas running "The Squeeze" on EFLB.

The paddler in the above videos is a certifiable Team Stupid paddler.

Do not try that at home boys and girls.

I saw a guy do it this weekend. But it was Sammy, that was awesome man! I didn't realize how clean Lucas's run was untill I saw the video from above.

No have not. I have been paddlin' EFLB for a very long time and have paddled it with most of the open boaters who have run it.

I am certain Sammie is the FIRST open boater to run it and that is a spectacular accomplishment for sure.

Ya? Well Sammy can throw loops in his canoe, can Dale do that?!

The original post said nothing about throwing loops, friend. So what's your point?

Good grief guys... Clearly Sammy and others didn't know Dale had ever run Johnson's Sqeeze. How should they? Does it even really matter? Dale's one of the best open boaters I know, and no one meant any slight to him here. So, if you're rolling eyes and such, perhaps you have some kind of chip on your shoulder? And clearly no one (as far as I know) is throwing loops in an open boat around here - that's gotta be a joke, right? (Though I might have seen Sammy's boat throw a loop once as he was ejected from it and into the creek in a graceful arc...) :-)

Look, I ain't involved in this little hissy-fight at all, but I thought I'd try to just remind everyone that we're all friends here, and that it's cool that Dale, Sammy, etc., etc. are boating wild drops in open boats. That's all.

Me and Lance and Dale ran EFLB about a year ago together and we all walked it that day but it was low. I did not know Dale had run it and being his modest self he didn't mention it. In either case our single bladed brethen who have run it are most awesome.
