Lower canoe seats?

Post by robkanraft » Thu Sep 18, 2008 12:28 pm

I know it's not a flatwater boat, but I took a friend fishing on a pond with my (new to me) Buffalo 17 and was surprised how “tippy” it felt compared to my old one. If I lower the seats a couple of inches, would that help with (the feeling of) initial stability?

Yes, the lower you can get your body the better off you will be. I think i have my ww open boat saddle at 9 inches. You may also have to get a shorter paddle. I have a Mohawk Intrepid and the sets are at 9 inches also. The boat is very stable. Try putting some knee pads done in front of you so if you need to kneel you can.
