Minimum Buffalo level?

Post by eubie » Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:52 am

After last spring's floods, seems the old air space guide was off a bit. Anybody have a handle on air space to USGS gauge matchup? We went last March, my notes had 11" air space and it was just barely "ample".

Doesn't answer the question but I know we floated Steel Creek to Kyles a couple Saturday's ago at probably 20 to 24 inches and it was low but floatable in a canoe.

what part are you trying to float? the upper section ponca to pruitt 22 inches is the min. and you have to pick out your lines. below pruitt needs to be 3.6 min. on the us gauge ... the really shallow rapid at the ozark campground at the bottom of the swimming area, and another just before the pruitt bridge.. about as soon as you can see the bridge. other that that you should be good! :D hope this helps heres an old reference http://www.harrisonarkansas.org/riverlevels.htm.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Seems like I read this problem was noticed in the time frame you mentioned, but went back closer to the old after a few more pushes of water... later in the spring/early summer....... don't quote me on that.

Try asking THESE GUYS. Last time I did a low run the worst spot was just below the Ponca bridge.
You sure this is on the right channel?

Thanks all. We were hoping to do Ponca to Kyles or Steel Creek to Kyles.
