Boats taken off of Big Piney Creek

Post by debmoore » Tue Sep 09, 2008 5:00 pm

Hopefully some nice paddler got the 2 canoes that were left on the rock below the Mother last Saturday, 9/7/08...a 19' aluminum, 3-seater, square stern and a green Pelican. The aluminum boat belongs to a friend of ours who let his kids borrow it...boy, does that sound familiar. We have also the name and # of the owner of the Pelican. If there's any info contact us a 479-331-3606. Thanks!

Deb, when Dale, Pam, Andy, Kim, Clay and I came through on Sunday, we saw and looked at the aluminum one, but decided it was wedged in too well to mess with thinking it would be better to retrieve at a lower level. Didn't look in real good shape. Was the Pelican underneath it or did it pin later?

Ya those were wedged in there good, I was floating with a friend who knew the guys who got them off. Last I saw the boats they loaded them into there truck at Long Pool. I am not friends with the guys so do not know there names, but the guys who have them drive a jacked up red chevy truck and they float that stretch a lot I believe. I believe they know all the folks at Moore's. I saw them stop there on the way out. I told the guys they should just leave them at Long pool. They wanted to take them. I tried to convince otherwise but to no avail. Hope that the owners end up with there boats. The pelican was pretty beat up and the aluminum looked ok.
...Well I guess theres nothing wrong with what you say, but don't sell me their can't be better ways..

Update please?
Sounds like the story has happy ending if the truck stopped at Moores, hopefully to deliver the boats, but I'd like to hear someone say for sure that is what happened.

We did hear from one of the guys that got the boats off. They are going to bring them back so that we can get them back to the rightful owners. We got on the creek that Sunday afternoon, so we weren't there when they stopped by. So far, it looks like it will end happily with boats and owners reunited, as it should be.
