I called Brad not long ago, he says Hwy 23 is closed, trees on the road, might want to check that before you leave

Re: Mulberry Sunday 9.14.08
According to my wife, there was a news report this morning stating Hwy 23 from Ozark to the Franklin county line was closed due to downed trees.
You might want to check it out before making a trip.
Brad, how about Lee creek sometime this afternoon?

Thanks for the heads up on 23.
Lee looks a little high. Guess I'll forget about paddling today. Maybe I can get an afternoon Frog run later in the week.

Did anyone make it to the Mulberry? Is the tree still down across the whole river below Whoop'n Holler? Also did more of the debris wash out of Chainsaw Junction?

Cheyenne and I met Ryan Norris on the Frog around 1:30. At put in the level was just under 7'. Big standing waves and fast moving water. One of the best days we've had on the river. Cheyenne and I lost it at the bottom of Rapid Transit. My mess up. Should have low braced. Cheyenne was literally launched out of the boat. It took us a few hundred yards to self rescue. We laughed all the way down. The waves were so big, her paddle wasn't even touching the water. I have paddled tandem with many people over the years, but my 12 y/o daughter is the best. Going thru the narrow section where the houses are on the left and the dogs bark, the water was moving so fast. I believe that is the fastest i have ever gone in a canoe.
Ryan is great to paddle with. If ever given the opportunity to paddle with him, I recommend it.

I got to hit the Mulberry today. Was at 5.3 on TB gauge at around 1130 so we met some nice folks that were also from Fayetteville and just hung out at High bank for a couple of hours until the water dropped a little then went out. Whoop and holler had good waves but I still like it at closer to a 3-3.5 level. The trip was fast and some waves a lot bigger but a lot of stuff seemed washed out. It was at about 3.9 when we finished at about 6:00-6:30. Might hit the frog tom. if i can swing it.
