08 Hero Skirt

Post by Dis147 » Fri Sep 05, 2008 12:37 am

Anyone know what size Snapdragon(Reinforced or Trek) skirt fits an 08 Hero? On the Jackson website it states a LG is the correct size for the boat, but other sites and some online stores state XL is the correct size….

The Large Snapdragon Skirt is the correct fit for an 08 Hero (the skirt and yak I have). I obtained the Skirt via CKS.

If both Jackson and Doug say a Large will fit, then I believe that.

But I note that the Snapdragon site says "XL".

I'm betting that "both" are correct. Jackson is a company owned and run by some hard core paddlers who are in excellent physical condition, who bomb down hair runs and jump in monster holes. They are going to insist "tight" fits on their sprayskirts.

Snapdragon is a company that has made a lot of money selling spray skirts that are easier to get on the boat than some of the competitive skirts. So they may be recommending a skirt that gives a slightly looser, "easy on" fit, but that still does a great job of keeping the water out.

For Arkansas runs, in a Hero, I would lean towards the easy on fit, especially for winter paddling, but I would recommend you browse the snapdragon website, find a phone number, and call them to discuss to make sure that the "XL" is in fact their recommendation, and not just a "typo" on the page or a result of different year model considerations.

I can second the fact that the Large is the way to go. I have an '08 Hero with the Large skirt that fits great. Tight , but no problem getting it on.

Thanks for the info....... I will take advice from someone who has actually logged some river miles in the boat over a sales person any day.

It was a sales rep. at CKS who insisted the LG is not the proper skirt for the 08 Hero.
