Cadron Creek Hazard
Cadron Creek Hazard
In a flat section downstream of the ACC Playhole, alias Lunch Spot, or Church Rapid, but above House of Cards or Blow Out Bluff, are two flat bed trailers on the river right bank. I think it's right below the rapid that has the large rock in the center we sometimes boof, and get stuck up on. And right below that rock on river left, is the nice waterfall, we sometimes walk up to. Each has a diesel engine running a large pump, with two flexible pick up hoses going into the creek. They have bouys or floats attached via rope to these pick up hoses. That bouy rope however, is attached to another blue/white poly rope suspended across the Cadron. At about 3.5ft yesterday, that rope was above my head by about 2 feet. So if anyone is running the Cadron in a kayak or canoe at say 5ft or more, or in a oar raft at even 3ft, they should watch closely for it. I'll post some pictures or video later tonite.
Re: Cadron Creek Hazard
We ran it at adout 6.09 feet and the rope was right at about neck or chest level we had to lift the rope to get under it. I beleve the company is TETRA because the trailers tags said OK and I saw some trailers just up the road ot a gas station that had OK tags ond looked just like the ones on the creek, and they were being pulled buy TETRA trucks. One of the guys that paddled with us got a photo of the plate numbers if that could be of any use.

Re: Cadron Creek Hazard
Creating a hazzard by stringing a rope across a stream would possibly open the operator to liability if someone were injured... kind of like the litigation that resulted when a rancher strung barbed wire across Crooked Creek.

Re: Cadron Creek Hazard
Tetra is an oilfield water transfer company. They transfer water to fill frac tanks on oilfield locations. If there is a oil or gas well somewhere near the creek, chances are they are transferring water to the location for a frac job. Sometimes these jobs are multistage jobs, and each stage can see anywhere from 60,000 gallons of water to 500,000 gallons of water, if not more. Tetra should be in charge of this setup themselves, so if you have a complaint about the rope you should look them up in the phonebook or get the number off thier trailers. They probably don't know people paddle on the creek.

Hey Guys
I work for Tetra and those pumps are not ours. We are not pumping from that location. We think they belong to IMPACT.

No problem. I just wanted to get Tetra's name cleared. There are a few other companies that pump water in the area for the gas companies.
