hello to all,
I was at bird island this morning at day break and watched the hundreds of purple martins leave the roost for the day.
what is unique about bird island in addition to being a major roost is the cypress trees that were planted there to help with erosion. every branch seemed to be occupied . I understand the martins will be gone by mid september. the southern tip of bird was occupied by alot of white egrets. may flies were also numerous.
I have posted several photos on my website
