just for the record......

Post by tomcat » Tue Aug 05, 2008 10:40 am

the highest I've ever paddled the Tot was on a July 28 (03?) when a hurricane came up from the Houston area and dumped 10" of rain in one night. The level that day was around 15,000 cfs. Just sayin'

Can't really top that -- but the longest single run on the Cadron: Schuyler and I paddled in one day (morning to night) 31.9 miles (Highway 124 to Springfield Bridge) on December 30, 2006. With worn-out muscles we paddled upper Richland the next day to bring in the new year. Just sayin'...

Highest I ever paddled the IB was Nov. 4, 1994 at 24+ feet. Just saying!

It'll get here all right. Jet stream will kick it up our way most likely. How much rain it'll dump is anybody's best guess tho. Some clouds or anything else that will cool it off would be welcome right now.

Tommy, I was talking in code with you after our Tot paddling in July last year.

For the record I would like to formally request a change in website content policy. I think throughout the remainder of this year's hurricane season no poster should be able to forecast, speculate, cipher, project, dicker, or generally comment on the projected path of any hurricane, cyclone, typhoon, tidal wave, tropical depression, tropical rain storm, tropical rain forest, or any cloud capable of producing precipitation in enough quantities to improve chances of paddling. I have been guilty of this tendency when Dolly decided to saturate the panhandle of Texas a few weeks ago. Anyone guilty of this offense should be prohibited from posting on this board without an avatar that displays a paddler in a boat in the desert with a scuba diving aparratus and a dunce cap. They should also be required to explain website content policy to the good doctor.

Do I have a second? :hammer:

TC you know I've paddled the Tot awfully "High" in the summer too. Camper axles and remains all the way down from Ed Banks through the falls. I'm sure some parts made it to the lake pretty swiftly. That was something to remember!

How bout Suck Creek, chattanooga good level
Watauga, at good level
Overflow at over 2.2
Ocoee some where in the neighborhood of 10,000cfs Green at 150 - 175%

all paddled in the month of July in various different years

also note, big daddys, cane creek and upper chick, amongst others all also done in the summer due to torrential downpours.
