Sunday (Aug. 10th)...

Post by The Pirate » Sat Aug 02, 2008 11:05 am

ok... so heres the deal...

today was my very first time in a kayak (Preception Prodigy & Dagger Approach 10.0) thanks to Minna...
we just went to a small lake and flatwatered for a bit, just to get my feet wet...
now, i HAVE to have more...

so, i was wondering if ANYONE would be up for taking me to some "easy, slightly" moving water next Sunday, August 10th?

i do plan to buy a boat, much like the Preception or Dagger soon, just want to make sure i get the best for ME...
that being said, i own nothing at this point... no PFD, no helmet, no boat!
but who knows, by the time were done with our day, i might just take your boat off your hands... hahaha

if anyone is up for introing a NOOB, PM me... i check it often (cause im addicted)...

thanks for all you guys/gals do for the people wanting to get involved...

My first boat was a Perception Prodigy. I paddled it on the Buffalo last year, but I don't know that I would recommend it for moving water. The cockpit is huge and you can't get a good skirt for it. I haven't paddled an Approach, but if I get another recreational boat that will definitely be it. My boat rack is about to be full though. My little girls have their eyes on a couple 12ft kids touring kayaks at the local shop. lol See you on the river!

The Rendezvous was my first paddling with this group and I've made a lot of new friends and memories. Now I paddle a couple of times a month with them. Watch for paddling trips down the Caddo in Arkadelphia or to Rockport in Malvern for newbie floats. And, like Painter Bob said, take the Into class with Lupe and we'll see you in Sept. at Rendezvous. I think there is a bar-b-q dinner Friday night with all the friends and paddling or classes you want on Sat. and Sun. There is a great potluck dinner and silent auction on Saturday night! After that, you'll have all the friends you need!

Painter Bob .... Hope you make it down our way for Rendezvous and then we'll see you up there around Sept. or Oct. Mike and I were floating last Sat. and when the lightening streaks came down, we thought of you!

You still have a few days to put somethingtogether for the 10th, but looks like most folks busy this weekend.

If you can scare up a craft you could probably join the Gov't day floatilia on the 9th. I'm stuck working this weekend or I'd come down on Sunday.

I have extra approach you are welcome to take and paddle for the day to get more idea about it. It is a great rec boat and kinda transitioned me into a whitewater boat. I have a pfd but no extra helmet unless I am not paddling that day, you could use my helmet. Also have a spray skirt that fits the approach you can use. I live in Benton.

If I knew you could make the trip to Rockyworld today, I could bring a rather large and resonably comfortable whitewater boat. I have jacket, helmet, paddle and maybe even a skirt that'd fit. Reply here, pm or call me @ (501) 920-twenty-one ninety seven. Water will be their by twelve thirty or close so if you wish some pre flow paddling we would hafta get on the water before then. glad the bug got you. the water bug left me with eight kayaks and a canoe. I'm Cronic! lol
ps. I could be bribed into a return trip to Rockort on Sunday if this is your only free day.
