need paddler's pics!!!

Post by KatieWilliams » Fri Aug 01, 2008 9:31 pm

I'm working on a theory paper for my portfolio to get into a competative high school. My paper is about how White Water Kayaking can also be linked to spiritualism. I just need any pictures anyone wants to send me, I have to have a slideshow of about 6 minutes or more and with all the ones I have it only goes to 2 minutes. I'd apprecaite those pictures!
Thanks a ton!

Great subject! And one that is now supported by some research. Be sure to read the article "Baptized in the Froth" on page 20 of the July/August 2008 issue of Paddler Magazine; it should help your research. If you can find it, you should get the original paper, published in the December, 2007 Journal of the American Academy of Religion; if you do, please send a copy to me, too! Remember, if you use too much of another article, especially without referencing it, you can be accused of plagiarism, which is bad. But you can also get in trouble for not being aware of similar research and failing to reference it, so the best thing to do is reference the articles, but add information and thoughts of your own and be sure to put everything in your own words.

For the best pictures, contact Dan Valovich and Tom Kennon. For the spiritual aspects, I think some of the best shots are the ones showing someone "in the zone" surfing, taken with slow shutter speeds so that the paddler is clear, but the water is blurred by the motion. And then I do have one favorite; I think you'll recognize the subject:

Nice, Cowp! Katie, I'll see if I have something you might use.

Thanks Cowper, yeah I have that article posted on my wall,ha. It was great. Yeah I was thinking mainly slow shuttered pictures would bring out the effect better, I've been taking as many as I can. I think I'm gonna call Joe and Amy Crutrer and get lots of pics from them also.
Thanks again for the picture!!!
And Roger whatever you got that involves whitewater is great,ha.
I'm not worried about the pictures themselves persay just how I incorporate them.
But thanks to all!!
