Lost Canoe and Kayak on Buffalo

Post by Brose » Fri Jul 11, 2008 8:40 am

Just found out that a friend of mine lost a canoe full of camping equipment and a kayak along with paddle on the Buffalo River. \He gave up on towing it to shore at Buffalo Point because he was freezing and worn out. This was back in March during spring break when the big floods hit the river. Poor guy made a couple bad judgments on the river....well first was going on it but ended up losing everything including having the two vehicles for shuttle flooded and totaled. Will find out more details soon. I am sure they are long gone by now though.

Have not seen/heard anything you might check with peole at Buffalo city area, or further down on the white. Just thinking that the Island there at Buffalo City would be a perfect spot for all sorts of stuff to get caught up in during a flood after seeing pics of that area in flood.

sorry bout your friends luck.
I had some friend put in at Hasty one year and get caught in a flood, not near as bad though. They woke up and found that there gravel bank around them was gone. By the time they got packed up they were standing in water. They said there was a whirlpool near woolum that had trees in it. Scary....
...Well I guess theres nothing wrong with what you say, but don't sell me their can't be better ways..

Yeah talk about bad luck. I will let him know thanks. He thinks they are somewhere out in the mississippi by now. Possibly but I believe someone found them and thought score new canoe/kayak.

Also I found out that the canoe was a red with mesh seats he couldn't tell me the brand and the kayak was red a red Prijon creekboat I believe. The kayak has OCC painted on it.

Sure did. And the U of A got a pretty penny for it when they had to pay to replace it.
