Rafts and Support Needed, Government Day, August 9th

Post by Dave Smith » Wed Jun 25, 2008 8:47 am

This year's date for the annual Government Day Float on the Ouichita River is August 9th.

Not sure of the number of guests or firm details yet but the usual plan is to take local/state representatives down from the dam to the Rockport Ledge to help build interest and support for this unique gift we have.

Looking for several rafts and people to row them down so please let me know if you can help!!

Also if some folks could think about helping with shuttle that would be great. This is a good job for the yakers since they can help with this before the water gets down to the ledge anyway, thanks!

Dave, I'll probably be at another committment... but, you're welcome to my little raft & Heather says she can probably be there to row it. Debo says she can row it if Heather isn't able to be there. Pat says she'll be happy to come & help with registration or whatever needs to be done.

Hey Dave,

Yes - if you need Larry's little raft, I'm happy to bring it and take it down the river! If you either don't need his raft or Debo wants to row it, then I'm happy to help run shuttle for you all. I'll plan to be available for the day either way, and you just let me know what you'll need from me!

Thanks!

but you'll never catch me complaining about too much of that southern rain.

I suspect I'll be able to bring a raft and a shuttle rig.

Dave,

I'm planning on being there and will have room for 2 - 4 passengers.

Hi Dave,
I'm a yaker and will be happy to help with the registration, shuttle, or where ever you need me.

Dave & Susan sorry for not getting this sooner, been out of town. :D

I could also help but I don't have a raft...unless someone has one and they don't want to row it themselves.

Dave, if you don't get enough rafts, let me know. I have permission to borrow Roger's raft for this event. Consider me as backup.

Between me and Bryan, you can count on a minimum of two more rafts. One 12' Star, one 13.5' Star.

Just curious how many normally show up? Are they just local to the Malvern and surrounding area, or come from all over the state?
