Sold on Hydroskin

So I bought some hydroskin bottoms and a pair of water shoes for the Mulberry trip this weekend. I am sold on these things. WAY cheaper than a drysuit (even though I'd love to have one), and kept me plenty warm during and early spill. I will probably get a splash jacket and pants for the next trip. Any other thoughts?

in my opinion, splash jack and pants is a must at less than 50 degrees ,or when wind is a factor. You'll feel much warmer. Never owned conventional neoprene, but I love my hydroskins, have both the short and long versions. Come summer, they may feel to warm for your comfort.

Yeah, I am defintly going to get some splash clothes. I just work some fleece this weekend over my HS.

Come summer I will just wear shorts and tee shirt. No need for all the other.

I use the hydoskin stuff a lot also. Works good enough in a pretty wide range of temperatures, and can be a good underlayer for cold conditions.

If you can find a breathable splash top or semi-dry top, that would be the next most useful piece. I use tops over hydroskin or fleece a whole lot more often than the lower.

I have the hydroskin socks, but I wasn't real impressed with them. I have the mystery helmet liner and storm hood and they're great. I'd like to try out wavelite base layer stuff too. I don't know if it's new or if I just hadn't noticed it before.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your input. Now helmets......I can't seem to find one to fit my fat head. Even the XL's are not as fitting as I would like. So far I have looked at ACE and some NRS one that wasn't so hot.

I wear XXL, look into snow ski helmets from LL Bean or /www.sierratradingpost.com or google snow ski helmets as there are several brands out there

this is the helmet I've started recommending in classes, it comes with a wide range of liners. Guarantee to fit, if the included liners don't work, they will send even larger ones to you.

I don't think the WRSI will fit if you have a super huge head. Their website says 23.5 inch max. That is smaller than 7 1/2 hat size.

I think I read somewhere that they are coming out with a larger model, could have just made that up though.

I have at least a 7-5/8" head. Maybe Eric E was right with a ski helment if they make one big enough.

I wear 7 and 7/8 helmet size or XXL

been wearing various ski helmets for years and so far no problems as they meet stricter standards than the WW helmets do.

Found a helmet that fits. It is actually an ACE, but a little more expensive than the regular ole helment. Thanks for the input fella's.
