Yep, definitely a war zone down there. Never been to Organ Pipe, the Most Dangerous National Park in America. However, I have spent my share of time on the Texas-Mexico border, and plenty of the same is going on there.
Camping in the desert in a remote spot along the Rio Grande is one of the most exciting things I've done to date. Haven't seen an over-abundance heavily armed of Law Enforcement officials patrolling around my wilderness camping spots watching over me and looking out for my well being yet.
Not gonna say if I've had a gun with me while camping there or not. It's anybody's guess. Sometimes just that element of uncertainty is enough to keep some folks honest. I might not have a gun at all, I might have a little Nine, or I might just have something more. Who knows. Feelin Lucky?
Personally, I'm glad to see some of these laws turning around in favor of the average citizen. Texas has recently relaxed it's self defense with firearms law (
the Castle Law); giving citizens more rights and choices when defending their homes and vehicles against dangerous intruders.
I think the law discussed in the link Butch posted is a good law. Glad to see some of these lawmakers coming around to some good old common sense thinking (not to mention upholding the intent of our second amendment
rights.)
My two cents.
