After all this talk about gloves I realized it was probably time for me to order a new pair myself. I was not sure I was seeing the right model on the Glacier Glove website, so I called them directly and spoke with Paulo, their sales manager.

It turns out they are trying to update their website and in the meantime it seems like not all models are showing up. He knew exactly what I was looking for, and so I placed my order over the phone. Anyway, slightly different model numbers than what is listed above. I like the fleece-lined Ice Bay model which is 813BK. Right now the "fleece lined" model isn't showing up online. Note - it's not a very fluffy fleece, but more texture than nylone lined. The fleece lined version of the Hypalon Palm is 802BK.

I think the difference between these model #'s and the ones listed earlier are the fleece lining.

By the way, if any retailers read this, I would suggest a local store start selling a couple of these models of gloves!

Oh - and Cowper, they also mailed me their full retail product sheets, and they are also now selling neo gloves in Advantage Timber camo!!!

What about sizing on these? How do the sizes translate into standard glove sizes?

The gloves I ordered from Glacier Gloves are out of stock. They are offering these as replacements. What do you think?

002 HBL This is specifically a paddle sports glove with a Hypalon palm. Hypalon is very durable; great for kayaking. However, this is NOT fleece lined.

802BK There are two differences between this glove and the 002 HBL above. 1) This glove is fleece lined. 2) The palm is neoprene which is durable but not quite as durable as the 002 HBL.

I have the 802BK and I have found it more durable than the Ice Bay model which is the other model I have and like. It might not be as tough as the other one, but personally I would go for the fleece lined. It's not a super fuzzy fleece by any means, but I think it makes the glove a bit warmer and more comfortable.

Regarding the size question above - I'm not sure what standard glove sizes are. I'm sure the folks at Glacier Gloves would be happy to try to answer your questions, though.

I think I might try those too. The last time I paddled, the only thing that got cold was my hands from wind cooling off the water inside the neoprene. Is the high wrist with the velcro straps a pain to get over dry tops sleeves?

Roman after I sent those ill-fitting ones back I think I ordered the same NRS gloves that you have. Hope those aren't the ones that didn't work for you. I haven't got to try mine yet.

OK, I know Lupe just said the opposite -

But I prefer the ones that DON'T have the fleece lining. I agree it adds some warmth, but I think I'm getting a better "paddle feel" and general flexibility with unlined gloves. So that's my preference.

Few rights or wrongs here - just preferences.

Got my Glaciers about two years ago, Perfect Curve, Hypalon palmed, unlined. Have a pair of thin poly glove liners if I need them as well. Still use NRS Crew gloves some for that year round protection down to about 45 degrees. I think a good bit of warmth comes from the water beading and falling off on the Glacier's non-pourous material, and thus not evaporating. BTW, the paddle grip is still great, no Sex Wax required.
