Anyone own a Mountain Surf Fatlip skirt?

Post by AC/BC » Tue Jul 17, 2007 3:48 pm

Wanting to compare the "fatlip" fit characteristics of cockpit rim to deck clearance w/ my current "lindberdeck" before placing an order. Anybody got one I could try on? The closer to Russellville the better.
Thanks ya'll

I once got a fatlip from surfing down a mountain while wearing a skirt. Does that count?

What kind of boat? the fat lip is harder normally to get on and so a better seal.

Yo Dennis!
It's for my Bigfoot which came w/ a lindberdeck. Clay also gave me your old lindberdeck that you tossed in w/ the Bigfoot sale - they both seal "okay" but I want to try a fatlip out before finalizing my dry deck order. Didn't you sell a fatlip to Dave R.? Was that yur skirt 4 the "BF" or Angst? If yur reading this Dave, how's the rand seal(tight tolerances?) & is your "BF" a New Wave or PSC?
John Mason @ Mountain Surf sez I need 3/4" rim-deck clearance for the fatlip to work & I've got it EXCEPT for a 3" long "blem" section on the right that dips to 1/2" clearance. This dip is what worries me ...it's gonna be close. Bob H. you got one? I know yur in an Angst & the skirt sz. is different, but like I said, I just need to check if the rand will squeeze in thar. Kahuna, Dale D., Rio...any glass boaters out there? -Mike

p.s. - You ready to let that styx go yet Dennis? How bout' you J-MAC?

I don't think I can be of much help there honestly, A/C. My rim is a good 3/4 plus and the skirt that Depic had for it had a very fat, stiff rubber which was dry at the rim but impossible for me to put on without assistance. I shopped for months trying to replace the small rubber mountainsurf I scored from Cris Anderson, which mount/surf chose to discontinue. It was a reasonably dry deck.
My last trip to Roger Scotts store was the turning point in my search as he had a wide variety of sizes. It was only after an exaustive search through the vastness that is, I walked/paddled away with a shock corded "Rapidstyle" made for a C-1. As of now the only complant I have is not with the deck itself but the little bit O water which trickles down the small of my back. It is not much but it does add up over time. "DOWN TIME".
Good luck in your quest and may you go with the flow!

Mike,
I did sell the last of my squirt skirts to Dave it was a new fatlip that was a tight fit. All fatlips when new and are usually of the nature to the user to have help putting on. Mt. Surf told me when I called about it being hard to put on said to put my foot in it and pull and to be in a location that would not hurt the skirt like gravel or rocks .. dah. But after that put on boat and leave.. a fat lip skirt will fit my old bigfoot.
Dennis

I just had a hard time asking for help at the river.
