my new / now outdated W10 has a li on battery.
the above URL gives some info on this type battery
If I read the above info right, LION type batteries loose 20 percent per year capacity no matter how they are used, this style battery should not be run to zero charge and recharged but recharge just fine when partially discharged.
Not sure if I typed all this correctly but in the old days, I would run batteries totally down and recharge them from zero, times are indeed changing.

Great link OB! I learned some stuff there -- mostly stuff I have been doing wrong -- like keeping a fully charged battery at elevated temperatures, running them down to depletion or using my "high speed" recharger as it seems like a moderate charging rate is best.
I also note in surfing about that the spare batteries for the Pentax can be had for as little as $8-9.00 to as much $35.00 for what otherwise appears to be exact same battery from a performance perspective -- the biggest difference seems to be in the warranty -- 1 year, 3-year or 5 years.

Wow, that is a good link on batteries - those who own a camera with a Li-ion battery should take the time to at least browse it.
For those not into metric yet, 25C = 77 degrees F, 40 C = 104 degrees F.
This means, bringing your camera into the house for storage in summer, leaving it in the car in winter, and not recharging until your next trip, instead of when you first come home, could leave you with more than 95% after one year instead of less than 80%.

I've been testing one in my W10 for the past few weeks and it shoots 60 minutes of best quality video (three star, 640x480) or 80 minutes at the good quality (two star, 640x480), or 2600 pictures. The battery held up fine to the 80 minutes of video with plenty of spare juice (I turned off the LCD after mounting to the chest-cam mount), but with th on again-off again routine of shooting pictures I'm guessing it will probably need to be recharged around 500 pictures. I haven't put it to that test yet since I generally don't take 500 pictures before getting home to download them to the computer.

Another thread to highlight the ingenuity of our members:
Don't know if Mike Stanley started this way of filing his paddling adventure photos but please take notice how each photography album begins with a picture of the USGS water level gauge...this not only dates the trip but one can then always have a very good guide as to the river level and whether it was rising or falling on the day the photos were taken.
Another neat trick made possible with the latest in technology is presented by PaddleDog. Take a look at this video on the first descent of Dead Aim Creek and note how he has incorporated 3-D grapical maps (Google Earth) with the video to pinpoint the different features film on the creek to a specific location on the map. Very cool.
Anyway let's continue to share more neat tips and tools with one another that help us preserve our memories and record our adventures.

I'm guessing you mean 4GB card and I got mine online through digi4me.com about two months ago.
It's a transcend brand and I've been using it in my W10 without any trouble since I got it. The camera battery runs out before I can shoot the 2600 pictures it will hold, but I can fill it up with video and still have just a little battery life left.
Also I just checked the pricewatch website and the price on them has dropped another $15. They are $53 now, probably because the 8GB are available.

Oh, and I don't know about the W20, but the Pentax rep said the W10 didn't need the fast transfer cards (x150 and x200 SD) because it's internal transfer speed was only as fast as the normal SD cards. I don't know what that translates into as far as mbps or if it even applies to the W20.

I've had really good luck with the corsair 2 gig on my W10
I've had it since the W10 first came out and looks like the price on the 2 gig card has about halved since I got mine on advice from a computer guru bud of mine

Pentax W30
The new Pentax W30 will start shipping on the 8th. The case has been re-done and the claim is that it's waterproof at 10 feet for two hours. I think everything else, as far as performance, is the same as the W20. They won't be hitting the shelves until closer to the end of the month.
