Increasing rocker

I have a new-to-me 2004 Mohawk Odyssey Solo 14 with sluggish handling. I've read that it's possible to increase bow rocker (and flare) by replacing the OEM thwart with a longer one. I might try that if someone with experience provides some guidance. Thanks!
