I have opportunity to buy a 20 year old Buffalo Canoe. Thanks to the research on this website, I was able to tell the canoe was manufactured in 05/98. Canoe looks to be in great shape. Very little wear on bottom.
How does Royalex age?
Does it become brittle?
Anything I need to look for as far as canoe and signs of age? Stress Points, etc.
Thanks for any info that you can share!
How well does Royalex age?
Re: How well does Royalex age?
The key is storage.
UV damage is what your fighting.
If it has been stored inside a garage or barn, it is probably good to go.
If you get it, clean it with mild soap and water.
Put it on a set of saw horses and give it a good dose of 303 every day for 2-3 days.
Go through it and tighten any loose screws and it should be fine.
