Looking at doing Dragover tomorrow. Probably put in at Fulton Branch and take out at River Bluff. Adds a little to the distance. Time is TBD.

i'll see how the rest of the day goes. i'll try to make it. I was kinda watching to see if the upper buffalo was going to be an option.

I will see you all at River Bluff in the morning. I have floated the Cadron once this year so far, and the Upper Ouachita 0 times, so Upper Ouachita it is. It should be a very pleasant float :D

Best Regards
Jim

What a nice day today! Thank all of you for coming, I always enjoy the visiting about as much as the paddling. As hot as it was today, we also had several opportunities to just lounge around neck-deep in the water :D I will look forward to the next trip!

Best Regards
Jim

A side note to everyone who has enjoyed the Dragover Loop over the years; while we took out below the Dragover take-out today, we did inspect it as we were passing and it is in the absolute worst shape since the National Forest Service abandoned Dragover and several other accesses on the Upper Ouachita a dozen or more years ago now. I sure wish something could be done to improve things, all of these accesses and campgrounds were built with loving care many years ago.

As Jim stated a very nice day on the water. :D 6 of us enjoyed a very nice day on the upper Ouachita. Level was about 3.6' which is optimum for the Dragover section. Was David and Andy's first time on this section. Was good to paddle and visit with Susan, Ed and Jim again. As Jim said the DO take out is in bad shape. It is sanded in so bad there's just a small pig trail down to the water. I remember when you could back a vehicle down to the water's edge if, you were so inclined. I won't name names :shh:  :silent: but, one of our group did provide us with some mild carnage entertainment.

About the DO takeout, it's been a sand pile since the last flood but the icing on the cake came about 3 weeks ago when the county road grader graded the road down to the take out. they shoved the excess to the end at the turnaround. several vehicles have been stuck in the sand since then and there is no turnaround. Thanks to the man at the top of the hill with the tractor who has pulled people out. i spoke with the county judge and he informed me that the forest service no longer has any equipment so if anything is done he would be the one to do it. He promised they would take a look. that was 2 weeks ago. If anyone can add anything it sure would be appreciated.
