4 day weekend newbies

Me and my dad have a 4 day weekend coming up august 25th I was wondering if anyone knew any good beginner creeks or rivers within about 8-9 hours of springdale?
Boatsickness- The strong desire to be on the river, instead of a classroom. Especially applicable whenever no rivers are running.

Check out Current, Jack's Fork and 11 Point rivers in MO.
