Hello and my first time on the forum from Baton Rouge...
I'm planning a trip from Ponca to Buffalo City, putting in at Ponca, Sunday April 30th and expect to put out late Friday May 5th or sometime Saturday May 6th at Buffalo City and the White River Resort. I'm kayaking and hope to have a leisure site seeing & fishing trip, averaging 20 miles per day. Interested parties please feel free to contact and join me for the trip!

You might want to post this on the ACC Facebook page if you're on Facebook.

I take several multi day trips on the Buffalo every year.
I love your out look however, to expect 20 miles a day is optimistic
and doesn't jive with your statement of "a leisure site seeing & fishing trip".
Although we are in canoes, a little slower, and in larger groups, 10 -20, we
launch by 9 am and take a lunch break, aprox 1 hr. to swim and/hike and take
off the river by 4 to set up and dine. I plan for between 8-10 miles a day. You
can count on 2 miles an hour of actual paddle in the water time...
So 20 miles a day would translate int 10 hrs of paddling.

Re: Buffalo River six day/night trip late April...
Hey Paddle Dog! Thanks for your input, however I'm very comfortable making 30+ mile per day paddle runs in numerous rivers across the country. My last trip to the Buffalo was Ponca to Gilbert and I believe the map says that run is 71 miles long. We did it in 3.5 days and it was an easy trip in canoes rather than my kayak. Thanks for the caution, my friend! Always good to consider the advice of other, experienced river paddlers...
